Dear Alois,
My day at the table tennis tournament at Sydney Olympic Park was amazing.
I made many new friends while playing there.
What was really good was that I understood how important psychology and tactics were especially because many of the players I played against served very similar serves and that two of my first games were lost since I got a bit stressed.
I also made additional changes in how I played since I previously tried to loop like Xu Xin and Fan Zhendong but during the game, I felt like I could get the ball over the net more with Timo Boll's style of looping.
Furthermore, I met a really nice senior player who was willing to do receiving practice with me. I was really happy about this because when he did heavy sidespin serves, I was able to develop a stronger backhand which later led to me doing my very first good backhand sidespin flick!
I won 4 out of 6 of my games today but although my team didn't receive any medals or trophies, I learnt many important lessons.
Thank you, Alois for all your help to prepare for the tournament.
With many thanks,
Gerard
