I've heard about how many Chinese players start off using thin sponge rubbers when they're beginning to play because it is a better option when developing strokes and getting the "feeling" of the spin in strokes. Is this accurate? If so, do any of you know of any rubbers with a thin sponge? Thanks in advance.
Hi Andy,
You can get most rubbers with a thinner sponge. Manufacturers often provide a range of thicknesses of sponge.
You can use something like Mark V with a 1.5mm sponge for more control.
Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
