How do i do the third ball attack?
Hi Gustav,
The secret of a good 3rd ball attack lies with the serves. You are aiming to set up the ball with your serves. Try to get a serve or series of serves that will make it difficult for your opponent to see what type of spin is on the ball. This will lead them to perhaps returning the ball higher or to positions on the table that you can dictate.
Take a look at this tutorial on Third Ball Tips which is part of our Weeks 37 to 40: Third Ball Training Plans. I think it will give you some insights.
In this video we will discuss the differences between Inverted and short pimple rubbers. We will also cover the advantages and disadvantages of short pimple rubbers. Some of the advantages are that the ball travels lower and flatter over the net and that having one rubber short pimple and one rubber inverted provides variety making it more difficult for your opponent.
