Equipment
I currently have Yasaka Extra with Mark V 2.0 on both sides and playing two-side loops mainly. I am told my loops are very very spiny and my fh on-table chop(push?) is also spiny and my bh can also do good block and flick. Here are the my concerns that made me thinking about a new paddle.
1. for very heavy backspin, my fh loops sometimes hit the net while the ball is very very topspin-ing. maybe I need higher-throw
2. I've heard that YE and Mark V are for speed-glue era so that when you put them together, the speed suffers. Maybe there are other combos I can get same spin and control with higher speed. IMO, I turn my waist much when doing a fast loop, the speed seems okay.
3. The paddle is almost 2 years old. at least I need some new rubber.
For new rubber, I am thinking about donic baracuda max on fh and 2.0 on bh, only 2.0 to get more control. For the blade, I ordered Galaxy t-11 by mistake yesterday and knew it is not good for my style. If I were to buy a new blade, I will consider donic waldner senso ultra carbon.
So,
1. Do each of my concerns make sense?
2. Shall I keep YE and put new baracuda (fh:max, bh:2.0) on?
3. Shall I change the blade also?
Thanks
Hi David,
I would just change the rubber. The blade will give you good control and the increased speed rubber will give you more lift and speed.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
