Equipment
Alois,
When a blade is made out of "wood, carbon and titanium" what is the titanium referring to? I understand wood and synthetic carbon, but is titanium also a type of wood or does it have actual titanium metal in it? Educate me please.
Sergio
Hi Sergio,
Hopefully someone will have some information for you.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Titanium blade interesting...
I got some information on Google
Titanium table tennis blade are made up of 7 ply in which 5 ply are of wood and other 2 are of titanium (According to Site).I mean really titanium. Here I am talking about Stiga Titanium Blade. They are very stiff and made for great speed. They are heavy and have less control. There are also 9 ply blade available in which 5 ply of wood and 4 ply of titanium.
Maybe this information is useful to you.

Maybe this can also help you
- Offensive blade built around 4 ultra-thin layers of titanium and 5 layers of wood veneers
- Ideal for the offensive player who demands speed combined with control
- Ultra-thin titanium mixed together with unique bonding glue that makes the blade very powerful
- WRB-system gives faster returns, more power and extra sensitivity of touch
ART. NO. 2091-XX
CONTROL: 62
SPEED: 116
VENEER: 5+4
ELASTICITY: STIFF
TYPE: OFF+

Interesting. I guess I was trying to make sure it really was metal. I purchased a Palio TCT which is titanium/carbon. I was just trying to make sure. It almost seems like it should be illegal haha.
Jean Balthazar Posted 10 years ago
It is legal as long as the non-wood material doesn't exceed 15%, and its thickness isn't greater than 7.5% of the total or 0.35mm max. See here under 2.04.02. I guess Palio wouldn't spend the money to put a product on the market that can't be used in competitions!

Correct I think you bought a 5 ply blade which has this composition (Wood+Titanium+Carbon+Titanium+Wood).
And I think this combination will give you a better speed and its legal too but it will take a lot of time to control as its control is less.

Maybe your blade has 7 ply
I am not sure about Palio as I never seen it as it can 5 ply or 7 ply.
I think it is written on the box in which you got it. If you know it please answer.
