Hi Angel,

To get more spin on the Tomahawk serve try using your wrist more and getting your bat back further so that your bat is coming more under the ball.

It is difficult to get as much spin on the Tomahawk serve as some of the other types of serve.  This is because you are using your wrist in a sideways motion.  It is still worth using as a variation of serve.

The Kicker Serve

The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.

Alois is correct but I would like to add something that might help. When you are moving your arm forward yiolenty snap your wrist forwad with your blade slightly tilted back. This is not something that can be learned in 5 min. I use the tomahawk about 80% of the time and still have trouble. Also keep your eye on the ball or it will head to the moon. Been there done that. (no,I have not been to the moon). Hope this helps, Steve
