Hello Alois

At the Easter Classics, I was playing one of my matches against an offensive player. Halfway through the game, instead of him making the mistakes trying to go all out, he started to block and play defensively. Which of course, made me attack.

I was top-spinning and he was just blocking the ball effortlessly until I had to eventually make a mistake.

I was wondering if there was any way to at least try and get past this opponent! grrrr

Hi Kon,

The best method here is to vary the spin, speed and placement you are putting on the ball.  These three things are what you need to always focus on when working on tactics.

If he was comfortable blocking your topspin, you need to change one of those things to make it more difficult for him.  Often players do not like slower and spinnier balls, even if they are comfortable blocking your fastest shots.
