Topspin against chop

Hi Coaches

Against block i go over the ball , while against backspin i lift it . can you advise  against diffrent types of  chops i.e short , long , high , low . Thanks

Hi Mohsen,

You need to think about either the ball is short or long.  If it is long no matter how high you can attack it.

If the ball is low then you need to topspin it but more upward motion to lift it over the net.  The higher the ball goes the more forward you can get with the stroke.  If it is really high then you can even think about making a smash rather than a topspin.

If the chop is short then the best response is a push.  If you can get it back short then you will stop your opponent from making the first attack.
