Strokes
Hi coach,
If the player has hitting style as his/her main style (fast drive and smash), would he/she still need to learn topspin stroke? Thank you.
Regards,
Ryan
Hi Riyanto,
The topspin is very important for all players. Even when you are hitting the ball faster and flatter it is important to be able to put some topspin on the ball to gain some consistency.
The adjustment is only small with your bat finishing a little higher and above your eyes.
Once you've mastered the start and finish position of the forehand topspin, you can start to focus on finer details. In this video we talk about the position of your legs, weight transfer, varying the finish position, incorporating footwork, the use of your wrist, and the angle of your bat for the stroke.
