Hi Alois, i was wondering for my topspin strokes because i finally succeeded it but as you may know i dont know how to calculate and how much forward momentum i need to put on the ball to get it on the table, because some of my shots generate it, and i concentrate generating topspin, but the ball doesnt really have a dip as fast, it just goes of the table and after dip. So it has a really good lifting action, so my question is how to control my strokes on the table but fast? and also what should i do to give the ball more or less forward momentum depending how close or far i am away from the table?

Thanks!

Hi PAsuale,

This is all to do with the store you play.  For more forward momentum, get your bat to finish further forward.  For more lift get the bat to finish higher.

Recognising the difference is a matter of experience and watching the ball and seeing the subtle differences as it comes towards you.  It is better to practice this with a training partner by getting them to give you different speeds and spin on their topspin.

Hi Alois, tahnks for the answer! in reality i improved a bit but i will also give coaching pretty soon to beginners, will that also help my game or it will just help the other? Because i have my robot but there is nobody here that wants a training partner, but im sure they would like to learn table tennis

Hi Pasquale,

I think helping others can help your own game because you start to see it from a different perspective and analyse the game.
