Serving
Hello alois-jeff,
what's up guys? I was just wandering if u would help me out in working a topspin service. Last night, i played one of my teachers. He is old and experienced one. So, he's a penholder and when he served, he put the bat in front of him with the bat facing downwards. He tossed the ball in medium height and served straight to me with the bat moving from back to front in the same postion. I felt that the ball will have sidespin and started approaching towards it but suddenly when it bounced on my side it just kickstarted proving that it had topspin.. So i was working out with it but all i got was sidespin no top at all. So coach please help me out. I want to know a proper place to contact to get topspin from the same positon i mentioned earlier. I am a chinese penholder.
(thanks for all your videos, you guys are the best)

Hi Parakram,
This is a tricky serve. You need to push your bat forward more than coming across at the point of contact. It doesn't take much of a change just a slight forward movement at the contact point.
I remember Zhou Lan Sun one of my coaches doing this to us and having a lot of problems returning it too. The ball would kick forward when you thought it was going to move sideways.

Which means that i must apply a bit more power and run across the ball.. Thanks coach you are the best :)

Parakram,
Rather than thinking about running across the ball, think about pushing forward and up.
