Mental Preparation
Dear Coach
As I have told u before there is a tournament scheduled in my office which is going to take place this month, I am going to participate. I would like to know how to overcome the tournament shakiness and keep the mind relaxed. This is the first time that I am going to participate in a competition. As always, there will be spectators watching the game, shouting and cheering up.
Kindly tell me about ur first tournament experience and what was ur mind set at the time of those tournament. Did u do anything different other than ur daily training drills.
With warm regards
Ram
Hi Ram,
My first tournament was when I was 9 so didn't think much at all, just happy to be playing the game.
The most important thing is to go out there and enjoy what you are doing. Work on the techniques you have been training. Focus on each point as it comes up and try not to think about the previous or points in the future.
If you feel like you are getting a bit nervous during the game, take a few seconds to take a deep breath and then get on with the next point.
