Hi Alois,

I would like to transfer rubber from an older blade to the newer blade.  If there are remnants of old glue on the rubber, do I need to remove every bit of them from the sponge before reglue onto the new blade?  Will that little bit of glue left on the sponge make that uneven flatness a concern to future rubber performance in games using the newer blade?

What are the precautions I can safely take to ensure there will be no damage when peeling off the rubber from the older blade?

Thanks.....

Hi Lionel,

You do need to get everything off the balade surface before you put the new sheet on.

If you leave anything it will create an uneven surface and will effect performance of the new rubber.

To take the rubber off safely you can use Acetone.  This is a solvent that will allow you to get the rubber off.  Just start to peel the rubber off.  Then put a little Acetone under the sponge and take a little more off.  Keep going slowly until all the rubber is removed.

If you are not concerned about keeping the old rubber, pull it off and then you can sand off the remnants that are left on the blade.
