Strokes and Technique
Hello Pingskills Team,
As I already told you in my email reply to Lob video,I started to use more offensive strokes and add some variation. Regarding to this,I would like to ask if you plan to create a tutorial how to perform such a sidespin stroke Hou Ying Chao performs frequently throughout this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwjceEH0P_g
I am enough skilled physician to tell how exactly the ball is brushed, but I struggle to get the body perform the correct movement to support the stroke. I have already tried it,but 90% of the balls went out.
However, out of the successful 10% there were 95% missed strokes from the opponent.
The remaining 5% were completely messed up when I softly shovelpushed the return with longpips, which was proven to be a disaster even for a player highly capable at reading spin.
Thanks for your reply
DK
Hi DK,
Take a look at our lesson on the Sidespin Forehand Topspin. The principles are the same for a chopper.

I have seen the tutorial,it is very good, thank you.
However I do not think it is what I mean.
I mean those close-to-pure sidespin strokes Hou plays with his forearm close to vertical from the knee-level or lower.
I understand there are simialr principles, but as it is taken so low and with so strange position,I do not know how to position my body. I always hit my leg or it flies between my legs or I hit the ball up etc.

Same principle, just takes the ball lower to the ground.

OK,thank you.
And what about the position of legs?
SHould I take the ball farther from the body with wide legs or should I place the legs more vertically to the table and take it closer?

You can take it quite close to the legs with legs side on.

OK.
I will try it soon, because I think it would be good way how to deal with middle balls.
