Hi PS,

Just wondering what the best option would be for a close-table, backhand, defensive, spin player (I have never wrote so many adjectives). Wondering maybe the TSP Defence Reflex-50 or Butterfly Power Defence? My budget is around £60 or $90 AUD.

Thanks very much, Matt.

Hi Matt,

I haven't used either of those.  You will be looking for something with a slow rating which will give you better control close to the table.

They are both rated as slow blades so would be suitable.  It would be a matter of feeling the blade if you can and see which one feels better in your hand.

Hopefully others have an opinion for you.

Choosing a Table Tennis Bat

Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
