Unrated Players entering tournaments

I am thinking about entering a tournament but do not have a rating.  Should I enter the unrated event?  As a result of entering that event, will I be given a rating?

Should I also enter an event at a level I might rate myself or enter a couple of events around my self-rate level?

Hi Aiden,

I am not sure of the tournament system and the entry requirements.  I would say definitely enter the unrated event.  I would also enter a few different events.  At a lot of these type of tournaments you can be sitting around for a while, so the more events you are in the more matches you should get.  Getting match experience is an important benefit of playing.

Here is a link with a bit of information on the rating system that may help. How does the USATT Rating System work?

If any of our readers can help it would be great.
