Guys, My 11 year old is getting keen and we just ordered a table with "playback" facility. Just wanted to ask a "professional" is this a good tool to practice with and if so what drills do you recommend ? PS: the videos are great - thank you, if he gets on well I'll order a DVD

Hi Simon,

The playback is good at a very early stage to get your 11 year old to develop control.  Hitting against the playback helps to do this.  It also releases you form time and being pestered to hit with them constantly!

However once they start to develop spin and hit the ball a little faster the plackback becomes very limited.

So initially get them to just hit the ball as many times as they can over and over using both forehand and backhand.  Whatever hitting they are doing will benefit their feel of the ball.
