Strokes
Hi guys
During my matches I can tell my BH chops with long pimples are getting much more underspin than my FH chops.
I've heard that it's possible with my FH inverted side that I can vary the underspin on my chops (well much more than the long pimples anyway). Is this true and if so how do I get say more underspin, less spin or even a floating ball? Will the technique be different to the one shown in your instructional video?
Thanks again.
Hi Leslie,
You are correct is saying that you should be able to get more variation with the inverted rubber.
To get more or less spin you need to vary the contact on the ball. For more spin you get a finer brushing contact and for less spin a flatter contact on the ball. This will give you the variation. The long pimples rely on the amount of spin already on theball as to how spin you can give them on the return.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
