Alois,

Do you advice me to warm up with a paddle different from my tournament paddle. My warming paddle rubbers are 388C-1(backhand) and RITC 802-40 (forehand). My tournament rubbers are tibhar super defense 40 (forehand) and LP OX (backhand).

The reason why I am asking, is I do not want my opponents get comfortable returning my serves.

Many thanks to you coach,

Rodrigo

Hi Rodrigo,

It is important that you play with the same paddle for your training and matches.  There are subtle differences in paddles that will be brought out when you are under pressure and returning difficult balls.

It is more about getting yourself to play better rather than worrying about the effect on your opponent.

Alois,

Thank you your prompt reply.  What I am going to do then when we warming up with my opponent is that I return their serves and counter hits if possible with my forehand (tibhar super defense 40) only. I avoid using my long pips OX.

Rodrigo

Yes that is usually what players with long pips do.

If it is an international tournament dont think you will be allowed to play with your training paddle always train with your Tournament rubber.

Also 45mins or 30 mins to the match you need to have drop your paddle for racket control. your racket will be giving to you at the table schedule for your match.

If i am in your shoes i will make a deceiving strategy like i don't know how to return those serves, will just return once in between.
