I have been playing for quite some time now and I am planning to switch my bat. This time I want to make a custom bat for myself. I have a defensive play and use backhand to do most of my chops. Should I go for long pimples or short and should I use it on my backhand or forehand.

Please help me out coach!!!

Hi Varun,

I would go for a long pimple and use it on the backhand.  A lot of defenders use this to be able to control the ball better on the backhand chop stroke.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

will the spin be affected due to long pimple on my backhand chop.

and should I go for a normal rubber on the forehand

Hi Varun,

The long pimples will reverse the spin on the ball.

Using normal rubber on the forehand will give you good variation and ability to attack with the forehand side as well when you get an opportunity.
