Hi alois, I was wondering if the backhand topspin is an advanced stroke. Because I am training for a long time in basic and intermediate level but still my coach hasn't started teaching the backhand topspin. Some coaches also consider this stroke as the most difficult stroke on table tennis.

Is it a good idea to learn the backhand topspin personally without coaches advice? I watched  your backhand topspin video but of course I can't absorb all information from it.

Hi Eugene,

A basic topspin is OK to learn from fairly early on.  As we teach that the strokes build on each other, the topspin is just an extension of the counterhit.
