Hi Karan,

This was brought in as a rule a while ago.  The reason is that when players use two different types of rubber on the different sides of the bat they can very different effects.  For example if they use a fast rubber on one side and a long pimple rubber on the other.  If the two rubbers are the same colour it will be more difficult for their opponent to tell which rubber they have hit it with.

It was leading to shorter and less entertaining rallies so the rules were changed.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
