Why Pendulum Backspin

Serving

Hi Pingskills,

I've noticed that almost ALL of the players around the world, participating in major events or not, are using either the Pendulum Backspin Serve or the reverse of it. I wonder why, and why is this so? Why is the BH Backspin Serve/Tomahawk Serve not evenly distributed?

Hi Cloud,

The Pendulum serve allows you to generate more spin because of the greater use of the wrist.  That is why a lot of players use it.  They mainly use backspin because that is the hardest type of spin to attack.

On the other hand if you use a different type of serve it can have good results because your opponent will not have seen it as much and may not be used to returning the serve.

Oh, I see. Well in that case, I just have to perfect that serve for many times, especially the pendulum backspin reverse serve. It kinda hurts below the hand because the handle is sliding on me pretty hard. Yeow!

Just try to alter your grip slightly so that the handle moves away from your wrist.
