What are the different types of wood used in blades and what are the advantages of each?

(for example: carbon,balsa,natural wood, etc)

Hi Giorgos,

I don't know too much about the technicalities.

The Balsa wood is a light wood which makes the overall weight of the bat lighter for those who prefer it.

The Carbon, tends to give you a bigger sweet spot.  However, the blade has to be at least 85% natural wood.So there is usually one or two layers of carbon between the layers of natural wood.

The relative hardness of the type of wood will determine the speed of the blade.  The harder wood will make a faster blade and the softer woods a slower blade with more feel.
