Strokes
To Alois,
I learn how to play table tennis for a while.
I have learnt the most basic strokes properly.
When i train, i have a lot of consistency and my stroke and footwork is near perfect. But when i play a game, my strokes and footwork goes totally wrong and i often lose that point. Could you help me pls
Hi Mat,
This is a common problem. In a game sometimes forget about the result and think about your technique. You need to do this in some practice matches first and then you can start to use good technique in some matches where the result isn't important. After a while you will be able to use it in important matches too.
We show you how to play a chop block and then explore whether the chop block is a good option in a rally.

I find that in practice, it is very easy to hit the same type of ball like heavy topspin to topspin over and over again. In matches though, there is always variation and the players want to force you to make mistakes. I found it to be best to train with various types of shots (chops, pushes, loops) all mixed in and placed all over the table to break your normal rthymn and make you feel uncomfortable. I learned a lot this way and I hope it helps you with your matches.

Good ideas Edison. After you have learnt the basic strokes you can challenge yourself with more random drills.
