Hi Vikas,

The simple answer is that you need time on the table training with good focus.

It is often said that you need to play for around 10,000 hours to really be good at the game.  If you can put these hours in over the next 10 years then you have the opportunity to become a very good player.  This of course will depend on your other commitments in life.

Focus means good concentration when you are training.  This is very important when you are training to get the most out of your training session.

Fitness will help you at the highest level.  At the club level it probably won't effect your results too much.  Later it might.  It is good to do some physical work as part of your training. It only needs to be a short session two to three times a week to start with.

Hi Alois,
i asked my coach about possibilities of me representing nation. He said its impossible and in his 25 years of coaching experience nothing of that sort had happened that shattered me. I was broke.I went to depression for 2 months because it was the  only reason to get up in the morning  for me from past 2 years. Now i am back changing my job for next 2 yrs  to spend more time on table tennis ,determined to train myself to be the best i could be (if not international player) in next two years.
Now i have 6 hrs per day for table tennis alone.
I am an average player but i love table tennis to the core.
1)How can i plan my 6 hrs to make best out of it .(With age 23 i know i am running out on my age.)
2)What are things i should focus on?
3)How to increase my ability to read the game? (spin and other basic science of the game.)
4)How can i get most out of my coach (he is extremely knowledgeable he was a former national champion and Coach)
i mean what sorts of questions i should ask to increase my knowledge of the game?
*you were my first coach learnt all basics from your videos online
any other personal suggestions apart from my questions is highly welcomed sir.

Hi,

I think the important thing is still to focus on being the best you can with the time and resources available.

Listen to your coach about the drills and training you should be doing.  This is important as he is seeing you regularly and will be able to give you good feedback, especially with his experience.
