Hello,

I (along with another individual) started a PingPongParkinson® in Madison WI. As people join our group I want everyone to have a positive experience.

I wonder if someone who has balance issues can play ping pong safely?

If so, what should they do to prevent falling?

Thank you for your thoughts

Hi Karen,

They certainly can.  Depending on the balance issue they can utilise some aides such as a stick.  If you have a look at some Paralympic Table Tennis videos you will see that all sorts of balance issues are overcome.

If the issue is particularly chronic they can play seated in a wheelchair.

Alois tries to knock a cone off Jeff’s head… and let’s just say, it doesn’t go to plan. 😂

After a few close (and not-so-close) attempts, Jeff steps in to show how it’s really done.
Cone on head. Ping pong ball. A test of precision, patience… and pride.

Will Alois redeem himself? Or will Jeff forever hold the bragging rights?

🧠 Probably not how you should practise… but definitely how we do.
