Changing rubber before the tournament

Hi pingskills,
I have a competition in April and my rubber is already dead. It's effecting my ability to brush the ball and serve with a lot of spin. Should I change the rubber now or wait till a few weeks before the tournament. Because I fear the rubber may not be as good if I change it now because I've been using it a couple months and the rubber might have lose some of the grip

Hi Eugene,
If your rubber is dead then you should change it now otherwise you are altering you technique to allow for the rubber.

But then my competition is in April and the grip might not be as good as when I first change it

You may need to change it again before the tournament if that is the case.

Omg that's gonna cost me a lot money!!! Is there another way. Perhaps one month before the tournament??
