Greetings,

as I mentioned before,I am now a coach of newbies.
i wonder how should I exactly train them.
CUrrently we are struggling with holding the bat correctly.
They are not able to spar together efficiently.
I am trying to follow the Basic strokes video, but I do not want it to be boring, and they are not stable enough to fire at a target or something.
Please advise.

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan,

The main thing is to give them as many opportunities to hit the ball correctly.  Try to use different types of feeding the ball.  Use multi ball or utilise parents or any other players to help to control the ball for them.

Also you can get them to bounce the ball to each other. Take a look through the Beginner Training 101 series for ideas when you have the players starting out.

#12 - Defensive Technique

Although attacking is the most popular style at the top level in Table Tennis, it is important to be able to defend well. If you choose to play a defensive style then you should be practicing these strokes all the time. If you play an attacking stroke then you should still try and find some time for these strokes. If you can win one extra point by defending well when pressured, it could make the difference between winning and losing.
