How to practice footwork shadows in a better way ? how to improve service and after service footwork.

Which exercises or drills should I do to improve speed of footwork . please tell some fitness exercises except shadows.

Hi Muskan,

Footwork is about being in a good place to hit the ball effectively.  With the shadow play you can really imagine that you are hitting the ball, trying to use all of your senses.  This will tend to make it more effective.

You can do this by doing a shadow play serve and then moving into position for an imagined next ball.

On the table you can start with some set drills where you know where the ball is coming and then progress to more random drills.  Remembering again that good footwork is not only about the movement but also about being able to read where the ball is coming and then getting yourself into a good position to play the ball effectively.
