defend a backspin serve

hello...sir....

     can you please teach me how to attack or defend a backspin serve.....in recent days I and my friend got surprised by Ma lin  backspin serve...both of practiced it and we got it....but plz let us know how to defend that....the serve is so special because...it returns to you...the moment it falls in the opponent court i.e..,

     Step1: steps in your court

     Step2: steps in the opponent's court just inches away from net

     Step3: returns to your court......

Hi Balu,

The key is to open the angle of your bat.  So the face of your bat should be looking at the roof.

If it is very close to the net you could even think about flicking the return.
