Do table tennis balls wear out

I bought a dozen top quality Butterfly 40+ Plastic tournament balls. I've been playing with the same ball every day for about an hour over the past 2 months and it seems like it will never wear out. Do Table tennis balls wear out? How can I tell if it is time to replace a ball for my daily play?

Hi Robert,
As you have found out a good ball can last a long time.
They don't tend to wear out but they do break. The plastic will get a crack in it and then be unusable. You will notice the ball will stop bouncing the same way and you may even notice a slightly different sound to the bounce.
Of course if you step on it... it won't last very long at long ?
