Hi,

I'm kinda confused about doing a topspin/loop stroke. Should my elbow be fixed and do the stroke with my shoulder or should i do the stroke with my elbow?

I'm a chinese penholder.

Hi Antonius,

Utilise your full arm, especially your forearm but you don’t need to utilise your elbow too much.  You will also need to use your shoulder.  It is a summation of all of the parts of the arm.

Take a look at the lesson on the stroke again and see if you can get a feel for it.

We will also answer this on the Ask the Coach Show #52 on Monday 22nd December.

Stop Coming Back to Ready Position! Do This Instead…

Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:

✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
