Finger Balls

Strokes

I have just started again playing regularly and find that in about 5% of volleys, the ball accidentally hits my finger (or thumb or knuckle), causing me to lose control and lose the point.  This mostly occurs with backhand shots, but occasionally with forehand, as well.  Any suggestions on how I might avoid these contact problems?

Hi Joel,

Try to make sure your finger isn't sliding up the back of the bat for your backhand.

Other than that, try watching the ball really carefully through the air and see if it makes a difference.  Just a slight variation in the flight can cause this.
