Hello Sir,

I am Hrishi I been playing table tennis since i was a kid and my grip used to be ok ,i am using the shakehand grip and i use extreme forehand grip when playing forehand and extreme backhand grip while playing backhand. But my finger slips due to the so-called forehand grip and my thumb is rarely on top of the rubber, the finger slipping is not due to sweat.

Can u suggest some solution for this ?

Hi Hirshi,

Focus on keeping the fingers in one position for both forehand and backhand strokes.  Otherwise it makes it too difficult to change grips in a faster rally and you will make both grips difficult for yourself.

Try putting a piece of paper under your finger and thumb and make sure yo are holding them there in the rally. If your finger slips the paper will fall.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.

They are probably slipping because you are moving the bat in your hand.  Keep the paper under your finger and see if that helps.
