Hi Abinhav,

You need to do lots of set play drills.  Routines where you know where the ball is coming and practice your movement robotically.  This gets your body used to the movement.  After a lot of this practice you can start to introduce more random routines.  As you improve you will start to move more automatically.

The natural tendency for the body is to move your bat towards the ball first.  you need to resist this and get your legs to move first and then when in a balanced position you can play your stroke.

Good advice!

It was a real eye opener.  I realise that when the opponent hits the ball, I always start moving my racquet first.  I have to really work on getting used to moving my feet first - but it really does feel counter-intuitive.

Often in table tennis, the game feels very quick but you actually have more time than you think.
