Shadow practice?

I'm trying to do at least 500 sidestep shadow practice a day (that's very tiring for me), hoping it can strengthen my legs.

Yes this will help.  Make sure when you are doing it that you do it in the lower leg position.  Even if you don't do as many, it is better to do it in a better position.
