hi alois,

i am very bad at my footwork.When i play backhand and forehand i totally mix up my footwork. So what should i do?

Hi Rahul,

The first thing you should do is ensure that you have the right positioning and footwork technique. Watch our video on footwork basics.

Once you understand the basics of footwork you can start practicing some drills to help you with your problems. See if you can get your partner to hit one ball to your backhand and one ball to your forehand. You can play all the balls back to your opponents backhand. This drill will help you develop your footwork and your ability to switch between backhand and forehand. Try this exercise slowly at first aiming to get as many balls on the table as you can in a row. As you get better you can pick up the pace.

Try to make sure that you feel nice and balanced as you move from backhand to forehand and back again.
