Strokes
in match play when i am attacking on my forehand, then the opponent send it down my backhand i always hit it over or in the net.
So my question is that how do i transform my attacking forehand into a backhand attack?
Many thanks
Hi Richard,
In that situation try to either continue to attack on the forehand no matter where it comes or stay a little straighter to the table after your first forehand attack. To continue playing forehand everywhere you need exceptional footwork. If you don't feel like you can cover the whole table with your footwork then stand a little more straight on to the table. This will prepare you better for the next ball no matter where it comes.
Sometimes it is just a matter of changing your mindset on this. If you are open to the ball coming into your backhand you will be more ready for it. If you are always hoping for the ball to come back into your forehand you will get caught out.
During training practice your switching from forehand to backhand with some switching drills that you will find in our Training Drills section of the website.
When your opponent plays a short ball to your forehand, you can play an attacking stroke by using the flick. This stroke is also known as the flip.
