Hi coach,

If my ball touches side of a table of opponent it is my point or his?

Hi Kedar, 

Thanks for your question. In table tennis, if the ball hits the side of the table (as opposed to the top surface), it is considered out. The point would go to your opponent in this case. Remember, only the top surface of the table is valid for a legal return during a rally. If the ball touches the side, it's the same as hitting it off the table or into the net. Keep practising and all the best in your games.

Doubles Serving Rules

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.

Most people that I play with will call it if their shot hits the side of the table but I'm not so sure that people will be honest in a tournament.
