Mark V, Sriver and Blade

Equipment

Hi Alois,

I'm kind of a backhand-oriented player. I like to block, counterhit and short push but I have a lousy forehand. I think I need more control and better feel. I'm thinking of getting either Mark V or Sriver. Can you tell me which one is good for me and how thick?

I'm also getting a carbon blade with decent feel and control. I don't need a lot of speed, just enough. Should I get the Donic Waldner Carbon Senso, Donic Waldner Ultra Carbon Senso or Donic Ovtcharov Soft Carbon? Feel free to suggest any other blades.

Thank you.

Hi Anthony,

There is very little difference in performance between Mark V and Sriver.  Get whichever one you can get cheaper.

As for blades I really haven’t played with them so it is really hard for me to tell.  Others that may have used them may be able to help you out.  Again I don’t think it will make a huge difference.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Thanks Alois. How thick should they be then?

Probably 2mm is good.

I think Donic Waldner Carbon Senso as I've used it from my friend's giving 6 months ago, and I'm feeling more comfortable on using it to counter swing ( as it is my favourite counterhit ) rather than others
