For some context for those just new to the forum, Alois and I both declared Zhang Jike finished in one of our ask the coach shows. It seems like he may be getting back to top form!?!

Apparently he also beat Ma Long in those tryouts, but not Xu Xin
That angle is great by the way. Seeing the ball's trajectory on those topspins

Zhang Jike is back, no doubt about that. In a round robin with 10 he ended second with 8-2, after Xu Xin with 9-1. Xu only lost to Yan An with 5-4 after being 4-0 up (yes, that's right, they play best of 9, seems like the Chinese want to be tougher than the rest in all respects).
If you reduce the round robin to the 4 big ones, it's a clear cut with Xu 3, Zhang 2, Ma 1 and Fan 0

I think Zhang Jike looked like gone because he had his back pain. Maybe he is cured now and gets his form back.
