Hi Matthew,

Well done and thanks for your kind words.

A big step would be to try and find a club in your area.  This will broaden your outlook if you can find one.  Then train as often and as well as you can.  These are the two keys to improvement.

Your Opponent's Weak Spot

When playing a game, you need to think about where you place the ball. Every player is different and you should have an understanding about where their weak spots are. You should think about this for when you are attacking, blocking, serving and receiving. The weak spot may vary between these different parts of their game.

I have one more question for u Alois and Jeff. My smash and topspin are good but the ball has to be a little higher for me to do it and when i do do it it is always a point for me. So my question is either what is an attack i can do for both lower and shorter balls or and good defence that will make thrm set me up more? All your advice and guidance is appreciated thanks, Matt.

Hi Matt,

The topspin strokes are the best strokes to play when the ball is low.  Even against a backspin ball this is possible.  Take a look at the lessons on the Forehand Topspin Against Block and the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin.

The same applies when they serve with topspin.  It is best to attack i back with a topspin stroke.
