Hi Alois

Sometimes I go through phases where all my smashes go long.  Of course every individual case is different and it's hard to critique my style without watching me play, but I was wondering if there were any common causes for this particular problem you were aware of.

For example, is the usual culprit that the backswing is not high enough?  Or that the contact is not flat enough?  Any particular thing I should be aware of when I start having this problem?

Thanks

Ji-Soo

Hi Ji-Soo,

Not sure exactly.  Maybe try hitting the ball with a fraction of topspin until you get the accuracy back.  It may be as simple as the angle of your bat being too open.  The other common cause of smashing errors is not being in position.  Maybe, pay attention to this as well, when they sstart missing and see if you are in a comfortable position when contacting the ball.
