Hi Alois and Jeff!

Recently, I've lost several matches against pimpled rubber players. I find difficulty in analyzing the spin of their returns... What is the return when I execute a topspin/backspin/no spin/sidespin or combination of spins? In addition, what are the best tactics against them? Thanks!

Hi Mars,

Against Long pimple players, the spin reverses.  If you put topspin on the ball it comes back with backspin and vice versa.

The best tactic is to use this to get the type of spin return you are looking for.  If you like to attack, start by giving them a backspin ball so that it comes back with topspin and you can attack.

If you are unsure of the type of spin coming back, don't give them too much spin.  It is difficult to generate your own spin with long pimples.
