Playing against slow blocks

Hi Jeff,

I can't seem to overcome my long standing problem of playing against slow blocks which land long on my side of the table. While attacking myself, I prefer loops with varying amount of spin to confuse my opponent, or use the speed of my opponents ball to topspin.

However on receiving the slow blocks myself, my timing goes off and ball either lands in net (if I try to counter) or goes off the other edge if I try to loop it back.

I even tried to slow down my arm speed to match the ball speed while looping but can't seem to get it back consistently and lose many points eventually. Not sure what should I fix and where.

Please help,

Vikas

Hi Vikas,

I think one of the main things is to move your feet closer to the table to adjust for the ball not coming through as far.

When you get into position you can make a normal shot and either play slow or fast.

Thanks Alois, I will give it a try!

Is there a drill I can do to master this?

Get someone to block the ball one fast and then one slow alternating.  Then work on moving back and forward slightly to get goo deposition for both of these balls.
