Serving
Hi Alois
From what I‘ve seen, professional table tennis players tend to stand near the side of the table when serving. Is it a really common strategy and what advantages can it give?
Hi Felix,
A lot of them start in this position but move quickly into a central position after serving. The position allows them to utilise the a wide range of Forehand serves and then with the follow through of moving their right leg they are mobile and in a position for the next ball.
In this video you will learn about basic serving strategies such as serving wide on either side. It is also important to not always serve to the same spot and to make sure you are always varying your service location.
