Hi coach I've got a challenge with some backspin serve (similar to ma long's backspin serve) or even a push which just not get high enough to push it. The ball just bounce once on my table side and it is already too late to push it back. How should i just push it back in this situation? The other question is how to develop these heavy backspin serves?

Hi Shayan,

To push the heavy backspin, try to let the angle of your bat do a lot of the work for you.  You need to have the bat facing almost fully to the roof.

If that is still not enough then push the bat upwards slightly on contact to gain the extra lift over the net.

To get that much spin you need a very fine brushing action on the ball.  Don't try to hit the ball too hard.  Relax and let the angle of your bat generate the spin for you initially.  You may even need to feel like the bat is facing backwards to generate enough backspin.

We have a Premium lesson on this in our Serving Secrets section on Learning To Spin.
