Removing Old Rubber

I recently went to change a rubber, and when peeing it off, although doing it quite slowly some splinters of wood came off on the rubber. The blade is now pretty ruined, it was a sealed blade as well.  The glue I use is a new water based kokutuka voc free glue, very strong glue.  Is ther anything I should remember when peeling off old rubbers to stop this happening? Such as peeling from a certain area of the blade first? Or going with or against the grain of the wood?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

Hi Andrew,

Some of the new glues really do stick too well.

I think a change of glue would be the best suggestion I could give you.

Yes peeling with the grain will help and start slowly and do it carefully is another, but the best is to change glues.
