Hi,

I restarted playing 5 months after 10 years stop where i was using speed glue, Mark V GPS BH/FH and Thibhar H3-9, 38mm balls, at confirmed level.

I've got 2 questions on the new material if you dont mind:

A- I'm back to allround blade right now and I have tried different rubbers, Airoc S, Xiom Vega Elite/Europe and few more but so far, i dont like anything, especially on my FH. Any tips here ? XVP is a bit too hard for me , Airoc too fast.

B- I noticed for Airoc S especially that the rubber is much faster and softer after 2 weeks training. I like it new but not after. Is it my own appreciation or do you know if there is a real change in rubber after the first hours of practice ??

HI Sebastien,

I will leave to some of our other readers to give you advice on different rubbers.  However, a rubber may feel a little different in the first few hours if it has a really tacky surface which can wear out in the first few hours.

Salut Sébastien,

A - If you were used to glued Mark V GPS, you'll probably want something quite soft (Mark V GPS is rated 38°, and the glue probably made if feel even softer). The Vega Elite is also 38°, so even softer... You may try Tibhar Aurus Sound (and any other "Sound" from Tibhar), which is at 35°. Desto F3 Bigslam is very soft (and the other "Bigslam" versions from Donic as well), or finally Andro Impuls Speed (30°). The drawback of soft sponges is that blocs and smashes become less accurate.

B - I know that hard sponged chinese rubbers need some hours of breaking in to become softer and faster, but I never heard it about european style rubbers (softer sponges). It could be the same type of effect with the Airoc S, although its sponge is rated at 42°, which is medium soft.

A-Got for if Aurus is too soft for you got for Andro Rasant Beat which is 37 degree just between Aurus and VE .

B-Go for Astro S because its sponge is more porous which feels quite lively.
